Momos are a popular snack in many parts of India. They are steamed dumplings that can be filled with a variety of fillings, such as vegetables, cheese, or meat. Vegetarian momos are commonly filled with cabbage, carrots, onions, and other vegetables. Here's a simple recipe for Indian vegetarian momos:
Chat -GPT recipe
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp oil
- water, as needed
For the filling:
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp oil
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. To make the dough, mix the flour, salt, and oil in a mixing bowl. Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and pliable. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
2. To make the filling, heat the oil in a pan and sauté the garlic and onions until they become translucent. Add the carrots and cabbage and continue sautéing until they become soft. Season with salt and pepper, and set aside to cool.
3. Divided dough into small portions and roll them into small rounds.
4. Take a rolled-out piece and fill around one teaspoon of the mixture in the center of the round.
5. Bring the edges of the round together to make a small pouch. Pleat the edges of the pouch to seal it tightly.
6. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
7. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and lightly oil a steamer basket.
8. Place the momos in the steamer basket and steam them for 8-10 minutes until the dough becomes soft and translucent.
9. Serve hot with dipping sauces like soy sauce, chili-garlic sauce, or tomato ketchup.
